According to Lauri Luht, the leader of the exercise, the participants' capacity to resolve cyber incidents is tested along with the procedures established for this purpose. The participants will acquire skills and experience on how to use resources and cooperate in order to resolve incidents faster.
According to Luht, the exercise is necessary for both the organisers and the participants as Estonian security largely depends on its ability to cope with cyber incidents.
“We cannot presume that we will be able to prevent all attacks and incidents. It is, therefore, necessary to prepare for tackling their consequences as well. In order to reduce harmful consequences, it is important to test our readiness and effectiveness of recovery plans,” says Luht.
The Information System Authority is responsible for resolving large-scale cyber emergencies in Estonia.
Observers from other Estonian state authorities and foreign partners of the Estonian Information System Authority will monitor the exercise until its end on 24 September.
