RIA released a new version of the ID software

On 15 April, the Information System Authority released a new version of the ID software (2024.4) to ensure the functioning of the systems and to upgrade security features. We encourage all users to update to the latest version of the ID software, which can be downloaded from www.id.ee.

According to Anna Õuekallas, Head of the Electronic Identity Department, user satisfaction, security, and reliability are of utmost importance when providing public services. ‘As technology evolves, we also need to regularly upgrade and improve our products and services. This way, we ensure confidence in the security of operations and a pleasant user experience,’ said Õuekallas.

Among other changes, the new version of the ID software adds support for the validation of digital signatures to ensure better compatibility with cross-border digital signatures.

Key updates and changes to the ID software (version 2024.4):

  • support added for macOS 14 and Ubuntu 23.10
  • support ended for Ubuntu 22.10, Ubuntu 23.04, and macOS 11
  • support added for validating CAdES signatures
  • upgrades and improvements to screen readers
  • updates to components and bug fixes
