In the European information gateway Joinup.eu service, the national metadata repositories of the Member States and international standardisation organisations are able to make public the essential parts for the compatibility and interoperability of information systems: code lists, descriptions of data exchange protocols, classifications, data models, ontologies, etc.
The service is already offering access to more than 1,300 semantic assets of 15 organisations. The Estonian metadata repository RIHA is among one of the first publishers of national semantic assets along with Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Finland and Greece. Estonia offers a choice of the classifications published in RIHA for the international audience (e.g. the Classification of Estonian Roads).
Publishing semantic assets in the EU interoperability repository is a good opportunity for Estonian institutions to bring their IT solutions to the international level, find wider exploitation possibilities for our semantic assets and to develop mutually beneficial cooperation.
In order to publish the semantic assets in the EU interoperability repository, the assets must be annotated by using the machine readable ADMS vocabulary. The RIHA specialists can offer counselling and assistance for this purpose.
