The information portal eesti.ee, which launched on 12 March 2003, started as an information provider, and for the use of e-services, users were redirected to the citizens’ portal, where people could view their data from various databases and registers. Today, the eesti.ee portal has become an indispensable digital gateway that brings the government and the people together – the site includes 101 different services and 1,700 information articles in three languages and is visited up to 7 million times a year.
As people’s expectations of e-services have increased, the possibilities offered by the state portal have become more convenient and versatile. For twenty years, people have been using the green, brown, and blue portal.
The last time eesti.ee underwent a significant overhaul was in December 2022, when the green portal was closed down and the entire portal was given a new look thanks to the digital gateway of companies.
By logging on to the eesti.ee portal, everyone can get the information they need on documents, health, family, children, benefits, and commitments. At the beginning of the new year, two new event services were added to the environment – ‘marriage’ and ‘birth of a child’.
More than 3.5 million notifications are sent by public authorities through the national mailbox every year. This way, people receive notifications about the expiry or preparation of driving licences and identity documents, polling cards, national defence obligations, fines, and other information.
The newest page of the state portal, which is aimed at entrepreneurs, brings together all the essential information and services ranging from establishing a company to accounting.
Eesti.ee will be given even more useful additions this year.
